Liner
Custom made by a professional leather craftsman. The band leather is 4 mm thick. Not the funky thin leather or patent leather as seen on most other reproductions. The shell's size is stamped on the band. There are also two other markings. The first one is an acceptance stamp, i.e. "B.A XIII" which stands for Bekleidungs-Amt (Clothing store) 13th Army Corps, Wurttemburg area with its HQ at Stuttgart. The second one is the L. Ritget manufacturer stamp (the factory from Kalrsruhe, near Stuttgart, which was producing military items in the end of the 19th - beginning of the 20th centuries). All these stamps are identical to the ones from the original liners.
These liners are made from the correct grades of leather and are stitch-per-stitch identical to originals. Each of the three pads has a pocket sewn into the rear to accommodate stuffing for padding/sizing. The liner pads are machine sewn natural cotton and stuffed with horsehair or flax tow as originals. Stitch-per-stitch the same as the WW1 ones.
Please note. The liner band does not have two rivet holes since not all rivet holes on the M16 helmet were at the exact same location. The seam of the liner goes on the back of the helmet and then you can make the holes for the liner where the holes on your helmet are. The holes for the rivets should be made in the exact center of the band for the best fit.
Leather color may vary due to different supply.
Chinstrap
Real heavy duty leather chinstrap. Complete with two buckles fitted on the strap and pickelhaube hangers which will give a precise fit to original M91 mounts found on all M16 shells. The hardware has been stamped from steel alloy with specially made dies. It is not "laser" cut. The strap is high quality leather which is tanned exactly as originals to get the proper texture and is die-cut for correct sharp edges. The leather strap is appox. 12 inches long. The ends are hand stitched as the originals were.
Split-pins
Exact copies made from the correct steel alloy, the prongs are soldered to the heads. Unpainted. Set of three, includes the thick headed one for the rear.
