Description

This attractive half pint bulbous measure with a ball terminal handle comes from the collection of Dr. Ian Robinson. Clearly visible on the lip are the hallmarks of Bolton & Wylde of Wigan,
who are discussed in a highly detailed and informative article entitled, The Boltons, Metalworkers of Wigan, written by Jamie Ferguson.
The verification marks are those of Rippon borough & Liberty, as shown in Marks and Marking of Weights and Measures of the British Isles by Carl Ricketts (see page 160).
Ricketts says that TS stands for Thomas Stubbs, who served as inspector, among other things.
Standing 3 and 5/8 inches tall, and with a crowned X stamped on the inside base, the piece is in fairly good condition and has a very nice silvery color. There does appear to be a repair to along about two inches of the base, as I've tried to capture in the photos.
