    Description

    PLEASE  NOTE :
Due to too many "arm chair warriors" out there, I have had way to many of my eBay listings ended by non-paying bidders in the last 2 years or so. When this happens, I can relist the item but I lose all of the people that are watching that listing. The only way I know to prevent this it to require immediate PayPal payment on my listings. In order to do that I can not have a listing like this for a vehicle and list it for "local Pickup Only" and comply with eBay's listing rules. Consequently, I have listed this vehicle for a ,500 delivery fee for anywhere and that works for most places here in the USA. If you are serious about buying this vehicle, you MUST contact me and discuss this potentially confusing situation regarding the actual delivery charge to your loation or no charge if you plan to pick up this vehicle. I hope you understand this dilema for me and I hope that is does not cause you much frustration.
This listing is for a 1974 International Harvester model 100 1/2 ton 4 wheel drive pickup truck that a man in Crosby North Dakota used for a parts truck many years ago. It has a                    North Dakota license plate on the back so it has been off of the road for                years. He passed away recently and I helped the personal representative organize an auction sale in later July of this year.
There were 32 International pickups and trucks and about 150 collectible farm tractors and many parts and tools at that auction.
I also bought an R-Series International 3/4 ton pickup that appears to have an original IH box that is about 10 feet long rather than 8 feet long. I also bought a parted out 1974 International 1/2 ton short box pickup that is missing the engine, tansmission, front clip and many other parts. There is enough left of this truck to build a very nice short box pickup. I will be listing both the R-Series extra long box pickup and the short box 1974 1/2 ton pickup here on ebay as soon as I get them home in a few weeks or so.
The copy of the line setting ticket that is usually on the back of the clove box is missing from this truck. A copy of it is likely still available from the Wisconsin State Historical Society. This truck originally came with many more options than most of the International 4 wheel drive pickups of this vintage that I have seen. This truck came with the following options and likely a few more that I may have overlooked:
Tilting steering wheel - very scarce option on this era of pickup
    Four wheel drive
    V8 engine
    Prestolite electronic ignition
    Automatic transmission (Chrysler 747 Torqueflite)
    Power steering
    Power front disk brakes
Custom interior with cloth seats, vinyl covered door panels & rubber floor mats
    Wide lower body aluminum trim
    5 cab roof lights
    Dual fuel tanks
    AM radio
    Twin horns
    Chrome plated front bumper
    Front bumper guards
    Heavy rear bumper
    Windshield washer
    Cigarette lighter
Posi-traction (not confirmed yeat but very likely on the rear axle)
This gem in the rough is missing the engine, radiator, front axle assembly, front wheels, front springs, hood, tail gate, seat, radio, left gauge cluster, some dash controls and many other lesser parts. The aluminum case Chrysler 747 automatic transmission is included as is the original cast iron transfer case. The bottom of the transfer case is tipped ahead a bit which made the drive shaft spline slip out of the yoke on the back of the transmission.
Since the VIN tag on the back of the left door is stamped "100  4x4" under model designation, someone can build a very nice 1/2 ton 4 wheel drive from this truck if they have access to some parts or parts trucks. One can convert a 2 wheel drive pickup into a 4 wheel drive pickup but a conversion will not normally be worth what an original 4 wheel drive pickup will be worth.
Since this truck came from Crosby North Dakota which gets about twice as much moisture in a year as central and eastern Montana does, this truck has more sheet metal rust that many of the pickups I find here in Montana. Please remember that vehicles here usually rust out from the top down and not from the bottom up as is the case in much of the rest of this country. Much of the rust damage on a vehicle here is due to neglect and outdoor storage where the rain leaks in around the doors and windshield rubber channel ;and such is the case with this truck.
Both of the door sills are rusted out under the doors but the rocker panels on the bottom of both sides of the cab appear to be fine. Both cab rear corners have rust holes or blisters in them. There is a bit of rust in both rear corners of the cab floor as well as a few tiny holes at the back center of the cab floor. The bottom rear parts of both of the front fenders appear to be fine. There are some very tiny rust blisters forming in the roof above both ends of the windshield. Both of the front inner fenders have rust around the where the hood hinges attach. This is often the first place these fine trucks rust out.
Both of the doors appear to be totally rust free so that is a real bonus. I have both of the door inside panels but they are ot shown in these photos that are limited to 12 per listing. Another significan bonus is the fact that the roof of the cab has never been dented or pushed in. That damage can cost around ,000 or so to have a professional metal man repair.
The box floor has some serious pitting and a few holes in the front 2 feet of it. There are some small rust holes in the vertical posts located on both sides of the tailgate opening. I can find no other rusted out spots anywhere else in the box assembly. Please let me know if anyone makes replacement floors for these boxes or the boxes of earlier International pickup trucks.
The very fragile stamped aluminum grille on this truck is truly exceptional and worth around 0 by itself becasue nobody is nor likely ever will reproduce them. Both ends are in excellent condition. The top of the center has a minor and very light scratch on it. This grille can be restored by a specialist who will strip the anodized finish, polish this piece to pefection and then re-anodize it.
I have plenty of free and relatively secure outdoor storage here in central Montana so I can store this vehicle for free for you as long as you might want and up to 2 or 3 years if necessary. Perhaps you or a friend are planning a trip to beautiful Montana and can pick this up at some future time.
I have lots of friends traveling throughout the USA and Canada all year long. I may be able to arrange safe and economical delivery of this vehicle depending on where you live and how soon you want posession of it. I can also arrange to have this vehicle tansported to either coast of the USA where it can be placed in a large sea going container being shipped to any country in the world.
The 1974 and 1975 International pickups are generally more popular than the earlier ones for at least four reasons. The very heavy (like 900 pounds or so) engine was set back about 4 or 5 inches in the chassis which transferred some of the weight from the front wheels to the rear wheels. The second major improvement was the additon of disc front brakes on all of the pickup trucks. Thirdly, a Chrysler 747 Torqueflite automatic transmission replaced the Borg Warner automotic transmission that was used through 1972 or so. A fourth bonus was the availability of the very scarce tilting steering wheel option which this very special truck has.
If you appreciate International trucks and pickups like I do and are looking for a worthy project, you might do well to give some very serious consideration to purchasing this vehicle.
I do not have a title for this vehicle yet but can get one if necessary. That process normally takes 3 to 4 weeks and produces a clean open Montana title that does not list the vehicle as being a salvage vehicle.
Please watch my future listing for several more very interesting International pickup trucks that I have available. Thanks a lot, Bob Woodburn in Bozeman Montana USA
