Description
This listing is for a relatively solid and very straight 1965 Oldsmobile "Jetstar I" 2 door hardtop that can be restored. It would also make a superb parts car if you have a rusty 1965 "Jetstar I" or "Starfire" hardtop or convertible with a good drivetrain that needs a better frame and body. I believe that the "Jetstar I" and the "Starfire" shared the same body that had the very distinctive reverse curved rear window. Perhaps a Pontiac or Buick also shared this very special roof line ??I am listing this for a friend who has about 200 cars from the 1950's through the mid-1970's that should be saved rather than crushed. I will try to list several of them here every month. I am starting with a few Oldsmobiles that I had a chance to clean the floors on a few months ago. I also plan to list a 1965 Starfire hardtop, a 1965 Starfire convertible body with a rust front frame, a 1966 Toronado as well as a white 1977 or 1978 Toronado XS with the large wrap around rear window soon here on eBay.
This car is for sale locally so please do not delay if you are at all serious about owning this car. There is a partially complete 1965 Oldsmobile Delta 88 4 door sedan with factory A/C that is setting along the left side of this car that is also available as a whole of for parts.
The engine, transmission, steering gear, hood, 3 wheels, front seats, console, driver's door panel, and both rear axles and brake drums are missing as are some lesser parts. No idiot has ever jumped on the roof of this car so that is at least a ,000 bonus if you were to hire a caved in roof fixed by a professional body man.
The very special "Jetstar I" logo is still on the glove box door as you can see in one of the photos of this listing. Both of the die-cast grilles in the bottoms of the front fenders that are unique to the "Jetstar I" and "Starfire" are included as are the "Jetstar I" medallions on the bottoms of the front fenders. One of those "Jetstar I" medallions is broken but all parts of it are included.
The rear bumper is included but has some rusted out spots in it so I don't think it is of much value to anyone. The right front wheel is on the right front brake drum. The left front suspension is intake and the left front brake is included but the left front wheel and both rear wheels are missing.
As you can see in the photos of the front floors, there is some minor rust in both the left and right front floors. The rear floors appear to be very solid as is the left half of the trunk floor. The right side of the trunk floor has some small holes in it as you can see in one of the photos. I could find no rust holes or even blisters anywhere in either of the doors. There are some rust holes near the grilles in the backs of the front fenders as well as behind both rear wheel openings. I have a lot more photos I can email to you if you call me with your email address.
Please remember, this is a Montana car where we get an average annual moisture amount (including snow) of 12" or less. A car like this has been neglected for many years with the doors open or missing, windows down or missing and the trunk lid open or missing. Consequently a car like this will tend to rust from the top down rather than from the bottom up as cars do in the wetter parts of this country.
This car comes with good transferable Montana paper work. A fork lift is available to help load this "gem in the rough". I may be able to arrange safe and economical delivery depending on where you live and how soon you want this car. I may add more information as the days go by so please check this listing every couple of days or so. Thanks a lot, Bob Woodburn in Bozeman Montana USA
