    Description

1775 Spain 8 Reales Revolutionary War, America's First Silver Dollar!.
This 1775 8 Reales coin is for serious coin collectors.  The Founding fathers didn't have any US coins, they used Spanish 8 Reales silver dollars. This coin was the largest denomination used during the colonial era. The Spanish 8 Reales was recommended to Congress by Thomas Jefferson to be used as the new country's currency. Congress agreed, making the 8 Reales Spanish Silver Dollar the official dollar of the Continental Congress. In addition, the dollar that George Washington allegedly threw over the Potomac could have been of this type.
